Although
I have been a fine art photographer for more than 15
years, my interest in photographing babies and pregnant
moms only happened after I gave birth to my first daughter,
Hannah, more than two and a half years ago. Pregnancy
was a such a magical and amazing time for me (pictured
above with Hannah) and my husband Jonn.
Initially I didn't want any pregnancy pictures of myself.
It was only after my friend Belynda kept pestering me
that I finally gave in- three days before Hannah was
born! I'm so glad that I did. After I could finally
get out of bed 10 days later, I started photographing
Hannah. Every day she was a different person, and I
found myself taking roll after roll of her ever-changing
expressions and moods. I now have an additional subject,
my beautiful son Hugo, who arrived end of May, 2002.
I have finally found what I truly love to do.
I graduated from San Francisco State University with
an MA in Education, which I probably will never use.
My German grandfather was an amateur photographer, as
was my father. The beautiful photo albums they created
of our family's history is a constant source of inspiration
for me. From my grandfather I am fortunate to have inherited
one of the albums which features my dad and aunt as
a children frolicking in the German countryside. These
black and white photos (shown below) are treasures that
inspire me to create the albums I put together for my
clients.
